What’s an American Green Card?

A Green Card is a document that grants you the right to live, work or study in the country concerned. An American Green Card allows a person to enter the U.S. to study, work, or live.

If you have an American green card holder relative, this could help you qualify for a green card. You can have the following relationship with them:

  • Spouse of the green-card holder

  • Stepchild unmarried (under 21).

Special Immigrants

Green cards may be granted to certain immigrants who apply for or arrive in the United States. In these cases, special immigrants can be classified into the following section.

  • Religious Workers
  • Permanent Residents who have been away from the United States for more than 12 months
  • International Medical Graduates

The Government often respects religious workers and might offer them permanent residency as a sign that they are appreciated.

These individuals can also be granted a Green card by sponsoring an American Visa (Green card) from a foreign medical graduate.

People who are permanent residents and have lived in the country for longer than 12 months may not need to apply again. Still, they will be considered automatically for an American green card.
